The Bear

I'm a big fan of The Bear, FX's hit tv show about chefs, layered characters, the food scene in Chicago and how to style a white T-shirt or two. I wanted to expand my repertoire with more character designs so focused on the main character "Carmy" Berzatto, the protagonist of the show and give him little "Disney-Pixar-esque" treatment.
Initial sketches and line work: I wanted a lot of elements to create a "maelstrom" that surrounds the main character that's noticeable in many of the episodes.
I wanted to play with textures to give that feeling of grit, dirt and steam that you find in a kitchen setting. Before settling on a final colour scheme I wanted the design to be stripped back.
